Isamu Noguchi's lamps

Isamu Noguchi's iconic Akari light sculptures are made from handmade washi paper and bamboo ribbing, making them both delicate snd strong. Though they were designed in the 1950s, they fit right into more contemporary environments.

Chinese goldfish classification
In Chinese goldfish keeping, goldfish are classified into 4 main types, which are not commonly used in the west.
▪ Dragon eye - Goldfish with extended eyes, e.g. Black Moor, Bubble Eye, and telescope eye
▪ Egg - goldfish without a dorsal fin. e.g. lionhead (note that a bubble eye without a dorsal fin belongs to this group)
▪ Wen - goldfish with dorsal fin and a fancy tail. e.g. veiltail ("wen" is also the name of the characteristic headgrowth on such strains as oranda and lionhead)
▪ Ce (may also be called "grass") - goldfish without anything fancy. This is the type that is usually used in Japanese carnivals, especially for "goldfish scoops".
▪ Jikin and wakin - goldfish with double tails, but with the body shapes of comets.

common carp
carp is a common name for various freshwater fishes of the family Cyprinidae, a very large group of fishes that dominates the fish faunas of Eurasia and North America. Some consider all cyprinid fishes carp and the family Cyprinidae itself is often known as the carp family. In colloquial use, however, carp usually refers only to several larger cyprinid species such as Cyprinus carpio (common carp), Carassius carassius (Crucian carp), Ctenopharyngodon idella (grass carp), Hypophthalmichthys molitrix (silver carp), and Hypophthalmichthys nobilis (bighead carp). Carp have long been an important food fish to humans as well as popular ornamental fishes (see koi and goldfish). As a result, carp have been introduced to various locations where they are often considered pests because they thrive in large numbers, each female being able to lay up to 80,000 eggs.
Science Name: Cyprinus carpio
Other Names: Carp, German carp, Mirror carp, Israeli carp
World Record: 82 lbs. 3 oz Romania
Environment: lakes
Techniques: medium tackle

Finding cheska
In the designprojects3 blog you can find interesting links like the one of Finding Cheska, they produce beautiful porcelain products in China. Here the story:
Finding Cheska is an offspring of M2T, an interior/architectural/product design firm from Taipei. Finding Cheska is an effort by M2T to extend its design philosophy to the product industry.
The spirit of Finding Cheska dwells in their ability as a storyteller. In every product that they create there is a story. It might take a form as a Sunday brunch table top, or bedtime lullaby reading chair, or first-day-of-school thinking cap, or summer peach party bowl, or late night sake snack plate, etc. Basically, they take small things in their life and re-examine them thru the eyes of a little child. Are things what they seem to be?
The factories behind the work of Finding Cheska are experienced artisans based in Guangzhou and Taiwan. Each one of them has an extensive portfolio of its expertise. The beautiful craftsmanship behind Finding Cheska is a demonstration of years of practice.
